Comcast will be giving away a limited supply of free Wiis in an upcoming promotion, a current employee tell us. The offer is good for new Comcast triple-play subscribers signing up July 28-August 17th in select markets. Our tipster confirmed the promo will be good in Miami, San Francisco, Houston, Denver, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, Detroit, and some other markets too. In valid markets where triple-play is not available, double-play subscriptions are eligible.

Could be a good deal for those looking to switch to comcast i guess.

Comcast Offers Wii™ Systems To New Triple Play Customers

To be eligible for a complimentary Wii system, a two-year contract is required. Customers can sign up for the Triple Play by calling 1-800-COMCAST.

oops sorry about messing up the link

I guess if you were planning on signing up for the triple play, anyway, then it's a really good deal. But is getting a Wii enough of a reason to sign up for a plan that's probably $100 per month and locked into a 12 or 24 month contract? That depends on the individual. Still really interesting, regardless.

I believe the catch is that you have to subscribe to Comcrap. They're working really hard to become the most hated company in America.

The Comcast techs in our area are very busy lately, doing disconnects, as Verizon's FiOS is taking the area by storm. They, the company Comcast, will sell their soul to keep your business.

Would an existing Comcast customer who does not currently have triple play qualify when they upgrade to triple play?

Even this is in my market, I still don't want to sign up with Comcrap.

But the Devil already owns their soul - they can't sell it.

The only thing that could make this offer worth while is that you've then got a wii to play with daily while you wait for comcast to come back on.

Seriously, we had comcast here in Houston. It got predictable - by noon on weekends, internet went down, and the digital tv signal got horrible, half the channels wouldn't even load. Around 6 or 7 pm, it would start working again. Switched to ATT uverse a couple months ago - internet has only gone down once during a storm for an hour or so. TV picture has had incredible improvement, even over the best comcast ever had. Comcast is a joke. Buy a wii if you want one, do NOT sign up for comcast unless someone is holding a gun to your head.

"one of the reply from the site"
$129/mo for a DOUBLE PLAY???? TV and Internet or TV and phone??

Still - their double play is usually only $66 or $69/mo (which already comes w/ HBO and STARZ) and their TRIPLY play is only $99/mo! GTFOH, Comcast!

Sure, you'll get a Wii, but you'll be paying $60/mo EXTRA than what you COULD pay for 12 months! If my math serves me right, that's $720 down the drain. That could be $720 in my TANK.

Considering Comcast doesn't do contracts, couldn't you just sign up, get the free Wii, then call the next day and cancel everything?

I am an existing customer of Comcast, out of a term contract that ended several months ago. I presently pay $93/mo for phone and Internet. I tried to call their customer service and see if I could get the Triple Play deal, but they wouldn't do it. They would only sell me some $129/mo nonsense with a bunch of channels I don't want.

You would think they would be willing to take the extra $7/mo from me, for something that costs them zero extra dollars to provide, but I guess not. If FIOS was in my area, I would be with them in a heartbeat, but they're very slow in getting around to my area.

I'm wondering if anyone knows any tricks to getting Comcast to let existing customers jump to Triple Play. Is it going to take me threatening to cancel? My guess is that they'll call my bluff and then I'll have to do it.

Thanks!

I won't argue that your comcast service sucked, but I've had comcast for the last 8 years, before that I lived with my parents and they had comcast/att/whatever else they were called for the past 25+ years. I added and paid for HSI in their house when I was living there. I will agree 100% that the HSI was sometimes flaky in their area. Once every month or 2 I would have to reboot the modem and or call support. You very quickly figure out that first level support are all MORONS. One "support" guy didn't even know what PING was. "I don't have a utility to do that" he told me. HAAA!!!
After moving the first thing I did was get HSI and comcast TV cable. While I completely agree it's overpriced for what you get (on the TV) and tech support still usually connects me to someone's village idiot the service has been very reliable for the past several years.

Yeah, they had a rep out here last week. "We might be able to save you $10 a month!" Sure, $10 is nice, but considering I'd be saving at least $40 with FIOS, uh, no thanks. You can just keep your price increases.

Once FIOSTV is up and going, I'm dumping comcast.

Yes they told us that existing customer who don't have triple play would qualify for this deal...
