I was in Sears in the Oaks Mall in Gainesville Florida today and saw several great (at least I thought they were) clearance prices on PS3 and XBox 360 games.

NBA 2K was $2.97, Major League Baseball 2K7 was $2.97 and Madden 07 as $2.97. These are just examples and there were others. Most of the games at these prices were last year's games. The prices range from the above mentioned prices to just less than $25.

Did search and did not find previous post on this topic and thought this was worthy of sharing. Even if the games are mediocre, you just can't go wrong at these prices, especially for PS3 and XBox 360 games. If you disagree, just ignore this.

nice find but, you cann't play online @ playstation network from last year games.
you need the current year game to play online for ps3.

He's right. Go read the fine print EA puts on all their sports games. Actually it's on all games generally, but with sports games it's just for that year.....and it details their rights to not grant server access anymore when they deem fit. After some period of time like 12 months or something. It's really stupid, I got into it with EA reps about it 2 years ago, and I've only bought one game from them since, Bad Company for the 360, that should be online for a couple years at least. Not going to EVER buy EA sports games b/c of this nice little tactic they use to force you to buy the newest copy of their games every year. Someday people who aren't completely crazy about the newest uniforms/players and NO OTHER changes in the game will realize this and maybe they won't feed the money grubbing, independent developer-eating, publisher absolving giant known as EA, any more cash. That's all just IMHO anyways people, not threadcrapping just a heads up for people looking to buy these and play online -- Sorry for the rant.

Yet another way they try to stick it to you. Thanks for the warning on last year's EA games. I guess it's a good deal if you want to play it alone or with friends at home, but not online.

These games are actually nearly TWO years old. The 2009 editions are either out or coming very soon.

Very true, I'm buying Tiger Woods '09 the day it comes out. That's the only EA title I endorse. The rest are just more of the same. Augusta course on the 2009 version, I hope so.

I bought a few '07 titles from Kmart for $5 a month or so ago when that deal was active here on FW. The madden '07 is kind of lame, considering in 2 player mode, it lets you see the play the other person is picking... I mean seriously? I think on my old Sega games it would hide the play from the other player... just EA nonsense.

Green for the OP.

Brockton, MA Sears only had one cheap game - Tiger Woods 07 for $5
Everything else on clearance for PS3 was $20 (sonic & other crappy games)

First time I've heard of this, it's too bad because I buying Madden every other year and I also love playing online. Madden 08 has a short time left I guess... and there's noway I'm buying a $60 Madden every year just for it to be sold for $30 or $20 within 6 months!
OPs deal seems great, I will be checking local Sears tonight.

I checked out my local Sears in Chicago, and no dice. Everything was normally priced.

fyi, the games I reference were not under lock and key with the "current" (e.g., regularly priced games) PS3/XBox 360 games. They were in a card-board display in the aisle by the TVs along with DVDs Movies, etc.
